Renovation of the recreation room at SMAN and Christmas celebration: In December 2022, the “Eirini” Association carried out a complete renovation of the recreation room at the Society for the Care of Minors and Youth (SMAN) – House 2. This space accommodates 17 unaccompanied minors from war-torn or extreme poverty-stricken countries. Our goal was to create a beautiful space filled with toys and musical instruments, allowing the children to spend their free time in a carefree and creative way. When they saw the fully renovated space, packed with gifts, their joy was indescribable!
What changes did we make at House 2’s recreation room?
- Installed a large, colorful couch so all the children could sit together.
- Donated furniture for storing their new toys.
- Replaced old lighting fixtures with new ones.
- Added plants to bring life to the space.
- Installed bright curtains.
- Painted the entire recreation area as well as the kitchen.
- Decorated a large Christmas tree together with the children.
Additionally, we donated a 65″ smart TV, a state-of-the-art soundbar, and a karaoke system for endless hours of singing fun. To top it all off, we organized a karaoke pajama party with cookies and warm drinks. The unexpected arrival of Santa Claus made the children’s joy skyrocket!
The surprise party was attended by the president of the “Eirini” Association, Ms. Nefeli Georganta, and the president of SMAN, Mr. Ioannis Areteos. The love we received from both the children and the staff during our time there made every moment truly worthwhile!
