Lesvos is preparing to welcome two new projects in the courtyards of two primary schools, thanks to the donation of the IRENE Welfare Association.
At the Primary School of Filia, a modern basketball court will be created, while at the Primary School of Chidira a safe and contemporary playground will take shape.
The true driving force behind these projects, however, is the residents of the villages themselves. In Chidira, when the truck carrying the materials could not pass through the narrow street, the locals – with moving willingness and effort – loaded the materials onto their farm vehicles and transported them to the school. Others formed a human chain, passing the materials from hand to hand, ensuring they reached the schoolyard safely. Even the children joined joyfully, eager to enjoy the new, safe, and beautiful space that will soon be theirs.
This solidarity and love for their homeland transform the donation into a work of the heart – one that will bring joy and safety to future generations. The Association “EIRINI” warmly thanks all the residents for their humanity and wholehearted participation.
