Another significant donation by the ‘Irene’ Association to the Pediatric Dialysis Unit of the Children’s General Hospital of Athens ‘Panagiotis & Aglaia Kyriakou’ has made a substantial contribution to improving the daily lives of children, their therapeutic care, and the diagnostic process.
The Pediatric Dialysis Unit of the Children’s General Hospital of Athens ‘Panagiotis & Aglaia Kyriakou’ had outdated metal hospital beds that no longer met contemporary requirements for children’s hospitalization and comfort.
As part of its ongoing needs, the Unit also required a blood pressure Holter monitor, an important tool for monitoring blood pressure disorders in pediatric patients.
In addition, essential equipment for the children’s daily medical examinations was lacking, such as a modern examination couch and mobile stools, both necessary for the modernization and safe operation of the Unit.
Responding to these essential needs, the Association covered the cost of donating seven (7) hospital beds with reclining chair function, one (1) examination couch, and two (2) wheeled stools for the Unit’s examination room, as well as one (1) blood pressure Holter monitor.
Through this donation, the ‘Irene’ Social Welfare Association completed the renovation of the Pediatric Dialysis Unit, following its previous support to the same Unit through the donation of modern hemodialysis machines.
This donation focused on the children. It allowed us to improve the daily lives and treatment of hospitalized children, as well as those visiting the Unit for diagnostic purposes. At the same time, it supported the work of the nursing staff, helping to ensure the smooth operation of the Unit.
Thanks to the equipment donated to the Pediatric Dialysis Unit of the Children’s General Hospital of Athens ‘Panagiotis & Aglaia Kyriakou’, over 150 children each year can receive safe and high-quality care for serious kidney diseases and associated conditions.
We undertook this donation with social awareness, actively supporting the Public Health System. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts of the ‘Irene’ Association to support Public Health Institutions.
These substantial interventions by our Association make care safer, more comfortable, and more humane, precisely where there is real need. We have carried out a major enhancement in a Unit where the treatment of children is a daily reality, and every improvement truly counts.
