The Shelter Our Children Deserve

The Social Welfare Association Irene was delighted to donate a new canopy to the courtyard of the 7th Primary School of Nea Ionia. This meaningful initiative focuses on enhancing safety and improving the daily experience of students, teachers, parents, and guardians.

An old, deteriorated, and perforated canopy, which had become unsafe over the years and failed to provide adequate protection for students and staff—leaving them exposed to all weather conditions—has now been replaced by a modern structure. Built in accordance with international safety standards, the new canopy guarantees a safe, durable, and weatherproof environment for many years to come.

The Social Welfare Association Irene remains committed to supporting impactful initiatives such as this, with the sole objective of improving the everyday lives of children and educators. Schools are the places where children spend a significant part of their daily lives, making it essential to ensure that these environments are safe, functional, and welcoming.

Seeing children play safely beneath the new canopy on a rainy day or enjoy its shade during periods of extreme heat gives us the motivation and hope to continue implementing similar projects across the country. Guided by the principles of reliability, safety, inclusion, and social contribution, we remain dedicated to creating meaningful improvements for communities in need.

Every project that enhances the well-being of children is an investment in the future, and we are proud to contribute to building safer and more supportive educational environments for the next generation.
