A schoolyard filled with play, laughter, creativity, and new friendships came to life at the Special Primary School of Aigaleo during the “Friendship Without Limits” event, organized by the Social Welfare Association “IRENE”.
Approximately 187 students from six schools came together for a special celebration of inclusion, where children from special and mainstream schools had the opportunity to play, collaborate, create, and share joyful moments without barriers or distinctions.
The participating schools included the Special Primary School of Aigaleo, the Special Kindergarten of Aigaleo, the 2nd Primary School of Aigaleo, the 15th Kindergarten of Aigaleo, the 7th Primary School of Nea Ionia, and the Special Primary School of Peristeri.
Through games, arts and crafts, creative activities, cooking workshops, and symbolic actions, the children became a small community—a community built on acceptance, cooperation, and friendship. Because inclusion is not only taught; it is experienced.
The celebration took place in the school’s courtyard, recently redesigned by the Social Welfare Association “IRENE”, a space created to provide children with greater opportunities for expression, play, and meaningful participation.
The presence and support of the Municipality of Aigaleo, the Mayor and Deputy Mayors, were particularly important, as was the valuable contribution of AKMI Higher Education Institution, whose volunteers from the Gastronomy, Interior Design, and Pedagogy Departments actively participated in the day’s activities.
The “Friendship Without Limits” event reminded us that every child deserves to feel that they belong. That acceptance is built through simple, genuine moments. And that a school open to everyone is the responsibility of the entire community.
