The “Irene” Association gave a fresh new look to the 1st Kindergarten of Naxos by donating new, modern furniture suitable for children.
2025 proved to be an exceptionally challenging year for the Kindergarten. The school was affected by two devastating natural events: the severe floods in Chora, Naxos, and the earthquake.
The Kindergarten’s facilities suffered significant damage due to these events. Initially, the main classroom was flooded and seriously damaged. Later, after the earthquake, the teachers had to remove the old iron-and-glass bookshelves for safety reasons.
Without proper furniture, the teachers had to store all the educational materials in bags on the floor, which greatly complicated the daily running of the Kindergarten and the teaching process.
To immediately address the Kindergarten’s needs, the “Irene” Association donated furniture that will remain in the school for many years: three bookshelves, three cupboards, and three toy storage units, each with plastic bins for organizing the materials.
Through the intervention of the “Irene” Association, the daily life of teachers and students was greatly improved. The donation of furniture for the Kindergarten’s three classrooms made these spaces convenient, attractive, and welcoming. The educational materials were organized and are now easily accessible.
At the 1st Kindergarten of Naxos, the young students now play and learn in spaces designed specifically for them. The children can choose the storybooks they like from the bookshelves and find their favorite toys in the storage units.
The books, storybooks, and toys now have their rightful place, always within reach of the children. The reading and play corner has become a small, charming world in the everyday life of the school.
