At the 28th Primary School of Athens, the large courtyard was empty. The pupils were all set for endless play and learning in their schoolyard.
The «Irene» Association brought colour, play and imagination to the courtyard of the 28th Primary School of Athens through the implementation of the donation of ten playground floor paintings–games. Various types of painted games now decorate the schoolyard, such as traditional floor games like snakes and ladders and hopscotch, which bring joy to the pupils while also helping develop mobility, number learning, teamwork, and fair play.
At the same time, there are now floor games with a more modern approach, such as a game that combines learning different body movements with learning to read. The young pupils read and learn words that contribute to their emotional, moral, and spiritual development: “Thank you”, “I love”, “I forgive.”
In one of the playground games, the pupils will learn the word “I give,” which is exactly what the Association «Irene» did: It gave the young pupils painted games to enjoy, learn, and engage in experiential play.
Small changes in a school’s environment that, however, fundamentally transform the pupils’ experience at their school and how they feel within it. Because children’s lives should be full of play.
From the Association «Irene» another act of giving with a social impact… So that the pupils can enjoy play and smile every day.
