The Ceramic Arts Workshop of Welfare Association Irene Creativity · Inclusion · Expression

Recognizing the need to support and empower vulnerable social groups, Welfare Association Irene organizes and implements a pilot ceramic arts training program for individuals belonging to vulnerable social groups during May and June 2026.

More specifically, ceramic workshops are being held at Alisachni Residential Care Home, the Day Club of the Society of Social Psychiatry P. Sakellaropoulos, the 2nd Special Primary School of ELEPAP, the 1st Special Primary School of Peristeri, as well as at the Association of Seafarers’ Parents of Persons with Disabilities “ARGO”, in its facilities in Piraeus and Kalivia, Attica.

Through this program, and with the invaluable support of specialized ceramic artists, participants acquire knowledge of basic ceramic techniques, create their own small ceramic pieces, and take part in the entire creative process—from the initial shaping of the clay to the final finished object.

Ceramics, beyond being a form of artistic creation, is a valuable tool for expression and communication. Through working with clay, participants have the opportunity to develop their creativity, enhance their concentration, and experience the joy of personal achievement. Every object created is not merely a handmade piece but the result of a meaningful process of learning, collaboration, and personal effort.

At the same time, the workshops serve as a space for interaction, socialization, and community building, where participants can share experiences, collaborate, and feel part of a creative group.

For Welfare Association Irene, the implementation of this program is yet another demonstration that offering support to fellow human beings can create opportunities, cultivate skills, and strengthen the self-confidence of people who often face challenges in their daily lives.

With a strong sense of responsibility and respect for the needs of society, we will continue to design and implement initiatives that promote inclusion, equality, and active participation for all, contributing to the creation of a more open, fair, and compassionate society.

The smiles of those participating in the program, and even our small contribution in helping them distance themselves from their daily difficulties for a few hours, are the driving force behind every action we undertake.
