The “Irene” Association welcomes Christmas
at the Athens Children’s General Hospital “P&A Kyriakou”

The “Irene” Association this Christmas travels with its sleigh, spreading a spirit of joy and love, with children at the heart of its mission.
On the occasion of the Christmas contest for schools, the Association’s sleigh made its first stop at eight schools across Greece, offering decoration and craft gifts. The number eight was chosen symbolically, as the “Irene” Association celebrates eight years of activity and social contribution this year.
Our next destination is the Association’s big Christmas celebration, where once again our efforts will have children as their main beneficiaries.
This Christmas, the “Irene” Association’s sleigh stops at the courtyard of the Athens Children’s General Hospital “P. & A. Kyriakou” for a big celebration, full of joy for children and adults. On Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00, we look forward to seeing you all in the hospital’s courtyard to celebrate.
The central highlight of our celebration is the lighting and decoration of the hospital courtyard, with the participation of the children, their families, and the staff. This is a symbolic act aimed at strengthening the sense of belonging and inclusion, offering a little extra warmth and festive atmosphere even within the hospital environment. The hospital’s courtyard is a new and safe space for the children, redesigned last year by the “Irene” Association.
The celebration program includes:
- Official greetings
From the President of the “Irene” Association and the Director of the Athens Children’s General Hospital “P.&A. Kyriakou”.
- Music program
With the participation of the Army Band, which will provide musical accompaniment for the tree lighting and decoration with Christmas melodies.
- Participation of pupils from primary schools
Pupils from primary schools will also participate in the event, including those from the 7th Primary School of Nea Ionia, who will offer handmade Christmas decorations for the hospital’s tree, actively contributing to its decoration and strengthening the connection between the school community and the hospital environment.
- Workshops on psychological empowerment and creative expression
With the participation of:
∙ Manos Chatzimalonas, Psychologist – Psychotherapist,
∙ Christos Roumeliotis, Artist – Painter,
∙ as well as students and instructors from the programs of IEK AKMI.
The workshops will focus on enhancing children’s emotional expression, creativity, and psychological resilience, with respect for their individual needs and abilities.
- Festive buffet
Which will be provided by IEK AKMI, as part of its collaboration with the “Irene” Association and its practical connection of education with social contribution.
All activities will be carried out in close coordination with the hospital’s administration and medical-nursing staff, fully adhering to the established safety rules and with an emphasis on creating a friendly, accessible, and inclusive environment for all children.
