In Filia, Lesvos — a village that, like many remote areas, faces serious demographic challenges — we created a space that brings life back: the basketball court of the local Primary School.
Until now, many local basketball teams had no court to train on, and now they have a safe and modern place to nurture their talent and passion for the sport.
But it’s more than just a basketball court. It’s a place for play, joy, and togetherness — in an area with no playground — where children and families from nearby villages can now come together. 🌿
At the court’s inauguration, the local teams GAS Olympias Mythimnas, A.O. Polinikis, and A.O. Arisvaios Kallonis brought the energy with friendly matche, while the IRENE Welfare Association honored their participation by offering trophies to each team — because effort and joy are the greatest victories.
The laughter of the children and the energy that filled the village were our greatest reward. A space that unites, inspires, and proves that even in the most remote places, life can bloom again. 🤍
